Nepal is a landlocked, multi-ethnic, multi-lingual and multi-religious country situated at the foothills of the Himalayas.

Diverse topography and climate have influenced the lifestyle, custom and tradition of the people of Nepal.
But most Nepalese (about 82% of the total population) are engaged in agriculture and still follow the traditional way of farming.
So, production is very low which has led to poverty.

Moreover, the Nepalese society is traditionally male dominated.
On average, women work around 12 hours daily, mostly supporting their families, yet they suffer from greater deprivation than men.

They lack education, health facilities and productive economic opportunities.
They are underprivileged, discriminated, exploited and underrepresented in all spheres of society. The still existing caste-system further hinders their access to fundamental human rights.
