Tara's
objective is to teach the women vocational skills in order to render
them self-reliant.
She provides free training for the production of Nepali handicrafts
(such as weaving, dyeing, cutting, sewing, business management as well
as other related skills).
After
3 months training, they have the commitment to work for minimum 2 years
for Chetana.
If after those 2 years, they want to change or want to do something
on their own, Tara helps them to find the way or a new job.
But off course, they can stay as long as they want too !
Monthly they have a meeting with all the ladies working for Chetana.
They discuss how things are going, what about the future and what they
need, want,.. to grow themselves and Chetana.
To give an example : a few months ago they all got a uniform. Not only
because it makes them a group, it also takes the difference away about
their financial condition.
They all have a voice in there and work together to reach their goals.
Tara says loud and clear : ‘ This is not about me, it’s
about woman (em)power ! ’

She
also promotes traditional skills, arts and designs of typical Nepali
handicrafts. She produces, sells and exports handicrafts and goods on
behalf of the women. She establishes connections with other related
organizations, national and international.
She hopes to train more and more women and get them self-reliant. One
of her next plans is to establish a kindergarten for the women's children,
since most of them are too small to be left alone at home during working
hours or during school holidays.
